Fast and Reliable Emergency Dental Care

Dr. Thomas Backus grew up in the Vancouver–Portland area and attended Clark College and WSU–Vancouver, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology. He completed dental school at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2018 and received two awards for tutoring and mentoring in dental education. After five years practicing in community health dentistry and two years in private and DSO settings, Dr. Thomas Backus joined Lacamas Dental & Cosmetic Center in May of 2025.

Through dental school and his experience working in a wide range of clinics, he learned that clinical knowledge alone is not enough. Providing quality care also requires coordination, attention to detail, and a great deal of patience with every patient.

He chose dentistry for the intellectual challenge, the opportunity to serve others, and the ability to make a meaningful difference in patients’ health and self-confidence. Outside of the office, he enjoys martial arts, cooking, and taking short hikes.
